Hi everyone! My name is Lindsay, and I graduated from UWEC in 2018. At UWEC, I majored in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies and a minor in psychology. I had the privilege of working with some incredible professors, studying abroad, and working on research with fellow peers in the WGSS program. I always knew I had a passion for nursing and focused on studying health issues during my time at UWEC. After I graduated, I was accepted into a nursing program in my hometown. I was so excited to get started. It’s essential that, as a nurse, we are not judgmental to our patients. Our patients trust us to provide them with the care they need. I feel that my background in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies helped me excel in this area and allowed me to connect with my patients. Our health care system is forever changing, and we must continue to educate ourselves to ensure that we respect our patient’s autonomy. On May 14, 2020, I officially became a Registered Nurse. If you have a passion for something, then do it. It can be a lot of work at times, but it’s so worth it in the end.
