Where is the conference?
The 2025 WGSC Conference will convene at the Pyle Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus; all sessions and conference events will be hosted on-site.

Where should I park?
The nearest city lot is the State Street Garage: 430 N. Frances St., Madison, WI 53703. Costs $1.80 per hour. Has 8 accessible parking spaces.
Select UW-Madison Lots are nearby and offer public parking. On Thursday and Friday, they cost $1 per 30 minutes for the first 3 hours, then $1 per hour after, with a $15 per day maximum. On Saturday, they are just $1 per hour (still with a $15/day max).

Can children attend the conference?
Children, under the supervision of a caregiver, are welcome to attend the conference. We will have designated family rooms and relaxation spaces for everyone, including caregivers with children.
Do presenters need to register for the conference?
Yes, we ask all presenters to register for the conference.
What type of technology is available in each meeting room?
Each concurrent session meeting room is equipped with a projector, audio connection, and a laptop HDMI connection. Presenters using slides and audio can connect their device directly to the HDMI cable.
Is there lodging available and nearby hotels?
There are blocks of rooms available at three lodging locations near the Pyle Center. You can find lodging information on the main conference page.
Please note that most of the hotel blocks will be released to the general public beginning March 19, 2025.
When does the general conference start/end?
Registration and check-in open at 8:30 am on Thursday, April 10, 2025; the first Concurrent Session is at 9:00 am. The conference concludes on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1:00 pm. The full conference schedule is here.
Will there be any COVID guidelines in place for the conference?
Yes, we are taking steps and making recommendations to protect the health of all attendees. The Pyle Center is equipped with MERV-8, hospital grade filtration throughout the facility. We will also have free N95 masks available for all attendees, and we encourage mask wearing for the general health and safety of the community. Additionally, some sessions may be “masks required,” depending on the needs of presenters.
All attendees of Dr. Mimi Khúc’s keynote on Friday, April 12, will be required to wear a mask.
We also plan to offer outdoor dining spaces (weather permitting).
Anyone with COVID symptoms or a recent COVID exposure should not attend the conference.
When is the last day to register?
Online registration ends at noon central time on April 3, 2025, though please note that early bird registration ends on March 19, 2025. Registering early allows us to plan for space, food, and other conference logistics. Walk-in registrations are welcome.
Will some conference events be virtual?
Our pre-recorded presentations will be available beginning April 1, 2025. The passcode will be shared with all registered attendees and UW System instructors for classroom use.
All keynotes and plenaries will be recorded and available on the conference website one week after the event.
Are meals provided during the conference?
A morning snack and coffee will be provided from 8:30am-10:30am each day for all conference attendees in the AT&T Lounge. Light food and refreshments will be available on Thursday, April 10, from 3:30pm-5:30pm, and on Friday, April 11, from 2:30pm-4:30pm, in the AT&T lounge. For guests who included lunch in their registration, food will be onsite in the lower level of the Pyle Center in the Wisconsin Idea Room, and there will be outdoor dining spaces, as well (weather permitting).
