Maker Space

MAKER SPACE

We will have an active maker space open from 9am to 4pm both days of the conference on the first floor of the Pyle Center. This is a chance for conference participants to work on a small art piece that they can take home from the conference.

Go With The Flow

Ever use alcohol inks? Now is your chance to try out this fun, unpredictable art supply that creates organic, abstract, flowing shapes. For some, it feels relaxing and meditative watching the drops mix and push against each other across the surface.  You’ll use these inks on a small tile and when you’re finished, you can take home your masterpiece. Put it on display, or add cork  to the back and use as a coaster, or add magnets to the back and display on your fridge.  No experience required.

Facilitated by Ollie Schaal. Ollie has a BA in Art Therapy with a minor in WGS from Edgewood College. Post graduating, they are finding their footing as a senior service care coordinator with Agape. They also spend their time volunteering within juvenile restorative justice circles around Madison, including the Dane Co. Juvenile Shelter Home and School and the Teen Bubbler program at the Madison Public Library. Their passion is caregiving and compassion, with a focus on restorative justice and LGBTQIA+ inclusivity. Wherever they go offering their skills, their bearded dragon, Spaghetti, follows. Being a reptile, she cannot be certified as a therapy animal, but that doesn’t stop them from providing animal therapy akin services. They work together offering support and compassion wherever they go.
