Kristy Lisle
As a multi-disciplinary printmaker exploring the intersections of 2D and 3D art, I create work that challenges a society that has regressed into shaming, blaming, and controlling women- a nation that has taken away our constitutional right to bodily autonomy. Fired up after reading the quotes from the legislative authors of restrictive state abortion ban laws; “women are irresponsible” and “women can control their reproductive lives by refraining from sexual intercourse,” I use my art to express my frustration and challenge the power dynamics affecting women. Ultimately, I aspire to create works that challenge viewers to contribute to the ongoing conversation around gender equality by confronting the systems of oppression that negatively impact our lives.
Extremely relevant, powerful, and stunning art, thank you for sharing it!
Powerful artwork! I can see how much reproductive justice influences both your art and activism! Love the colors and textures!
Incredible pride in my sister’s creative artwork!
I am moved by your video explanation of personal themes and how your are using art to express these important messages. Each piece is a unique expression – – but all ties together with artistic integrity. Wowzer, Kristy!
